Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrated that Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "When my Lord took me up (on the right of mi'raj), I passed by a people (in the higher world) who had nails of copper. They scratched their faces and chests (with them). I asked (Jibril) عليه السلام, 'who are they, O Jibril?' He said, "They are those who consumed human flesh (meaning who backbited people), and who defamed people." [1]
