THE PROPHET'S POETRY

Mishkat al-MasabihHadith Number 4788

وَعَن جُنْدُبٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ فِي بَعْضِ الْمَشَاهِدِ وَقَدْ دَمِيَتْ أُصْبُعُهُ فَقَالَ: هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلَّا أُصْبُعٌ دَمِيتِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ الله مَا لقِيت مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ

Sayyiduna Jundub رضي الله عنه narrated that in a battle (of Uhud), the Prophet's صلى الله عليه وسلم toe was wounded and became bloody. He said (figuratively); هَلْ أَنْتَ إِلَّا أَصْبَعٌ دُمِيَتْ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَا لَقِيَتْ (You are nothing but a toe bleeding. It is in Allah's path that which has happened) [1]
